My number one most genius idea last summer was picking up this inflatable pool for about thirty bucks at Academy. I nicknamed him Willy in reference to the whale (which sprayed water from the top if connected to a hose, brilliant). We spent many, many luxurious hours together on hot summer weekends.
As the weather heated up this year, I kept begging Nick to set the pool back up for me. Except since we refer to the pool as Willy, it sounded more like, “Can you please please please free Willy this weekend?” Finally, this past weekend, Nick got around to it. I was so excited I wanted to take pictures, but what is up with the weird tint to these photos?
In no time at all Willy was blown up and ready for water.
But before we could even get the hose ready Willy started moving into downward-facing dog position, the apparent victim of a leak.
We debated about trying to patch it, then decided that I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed the pool that much this year anyway. It’s not like it’s big enough for me to float in, and it’s a whole ordeal for me to get down that low to the ground and back up again. I’m still a little bummed, though. I wish I had a big, cold pool in my backyard to float in all weekend. I started physical therapy recently (for my rib pain) and I get to get in their (heated) pool twice a week and that’s really, really nice, but it’s also a lot of work and I’m super sore by the time I get out. In a few weeks Nick and I are taking a weekend trip to Florida and I can’t wait to spend long hours lounging in the hotel pool (and the ocean, of course). I’m really looking forward to this one last chance to get away just the two of us before Jack arrives. This weekend, though, we’ll be staying closer to home, working on little projects, cleaning up the house a bit, and pretty much just taking it easy. The older I get the more I appreciate quiet weekends at home. I hope each of you has a wonderful weekend, maybe drink a margarita for me in honor of Cinco de Mayo? My fiesta will probably look more like a siesta, haha.
