It Has Arrived

After writing about it last week I went ahead and ordered this indoor-outdoor rug for my living room. It arrived on Friday, just in time for me to roll it out and wish it farewell before taking Jack to visit grandparents for the weekend while Nick went to Texas for a fantasy football draft party (seriously, he’s obsessed with all things athletic). This way everyone was happy–Nick got to go out with his friends for the first time since becoming a dad, I wasn’t stuck alone with a baby all weekend, and all four grandparents got to cuddle the little guy to their hearts’ content.

I LOVE the new rug. The room instantly felt bigger, brighter, warmer, and cleaner. And despite being suitable for outdoor use it feels really nice underfoot. I’ve even caught the cats lounging on it a few times, which is strange since they usually choose to cuddle up on the furniture.

It coordinates really well with all the stuff I already have, which is a big plus. It almost looks like I decorated the room with this rug in mind, which obviously I didn’t but it just goes to show that these particular colors are pretty popular in my house, particularly that shade of blue.

I should have done this a long time ago. The zebra floorcloth, while really cool, was never really a great solution for a room where so much living is done. A real rug is much more inviting and comfortable, especially now that we’ve got a kid. I’m hoping this one will stick around for a few years. I still think under $200 for a rug of this size is a really great deal, but I’d rather not spend that much money again for a while if I can help it.

Ps, after going and looking at the rug online again so I could link to it, I realized A) it’s even cheaper now than when I bought it, and B) my rug is a different pattern than the one pictured! Weird, huh? I wonder if I could get a refund if I complained. I don’t really mind though, seeing as its more the size and color that drew me in than the pattern. Funny that I didn’t even notice until now!

  1. First off, I love it and it looks awesome in that space! Also, I am 95% sure that it is the same pattern. I just did 18 double takes. I think you should at least TRY to email them and see if they have one of those policies that if it goes on sale in the next X days after purchase they’ll refund you the difference. It has only been a week, and it couldn’t hurt :)

Thanks! Unless I’m losing my mind the pattern is definitely not the same, but I’m sleep-deprived so you never know. I think I will email them about their refund policy, good idea.

  2. I love the rug. It really brightens the room. The color is perfect. I agree with Sarah. Check for that sale price policy. Sometimes they won’t refund, but will give you a purchase credit..Almost as good. It is worth a try.

  3. I love love love that TV stand did you paint it?

Yes my college roommate/BFF Lauren and I rescued it from the side of the road and painted it back in 2004. It’s actually a dresser with no drawers. We didn’t have a drill so I just used a screwdriver and hammer to poke out some holes in the back for cords.

[...] my delight when I got to the next page and realized I had a $20 store credit! It was from the last time I bought a rug from Overstock and it went on sale right after. I emailed them and they gave me a credit for the difference, but [...]
