Three Months Old

Can you believe it’s October already? This summer has flown by! If I were still working full-time my maternity leave would be over. Meanwhile, Jack has gotten so big! More and more of his little personality shines through every day. Example: he thinks its hilarious when I wipe drool from his chin. And when he smiles, i smile, obviously. His other interests include: squealing, kicking, cuddling, and gazing at ceiling fans (on or off, equally fascinating).

He’s really grown up a lot in the last month in ways that make my life a lot easier. He now nurses every three hours instead of two, and can be left to amuse himself in a safe place while I take on really self-indulgent activities, like brushing my teeth, which makes getting off to work a lot easier. He’s also clearly smiling at people now, as seen in this picture of him with my parents a few weeks ago.

Overall, life is good these days. So good, in fact, that when I held an eyelash on the tip of my finger this morning I didn’t know what to wish for. Everything’s gravy, as far as I’m concerned. Maybe next time I’ll wish for everything to just keep on keepin’ on. Or maybe to lose twenty pounds, or to get a new camera, but I know those are things I could have if I just tried hard enough, so there’s really no point in wishing for them. I usually wish for stuff I can’t directly control, like for Jack’s hips to get better. Ever since that happened I’m all out of wishes! Not a bad problem to have, I think.

  1. I can’t tell you how encouraging it is to see your sweet boy harness free. We have our first ultrasound tomorrow to check the status of my baby girls hips…praying all goes well.

  2. How cute is he? So glad the harness is a thing of the past!

  3. You all are such wonderful parents! Jack sure is a cutie pie! I love him so much! Can not wait for him to be old enough to spend the night or weekend!

  4. Great photos. Aren’t you glad that you didn’t have to go back to full time work? He is adorable and I think your mom looks way to young to be a grandma, but I am sure she is a great one.

  5. Ohmigosh, he is cute! So glad all is going well. One day I’ll meet little Jack. Lots of love from Salt Lake City.
