The Wearin’ of the Green

One of the many, many perks of living where we do is the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade that rolls right through our neighborhood. Offically titled The Wearin’ of the Green Parade, it runs every year on the Saturday before March 17th and passes about a half mile from our house. I’ve got a policy against taking my camera to stuff like this–I don’t want to spend the whole time fussing over it instead of enjoying my surroundings–but we did snap a few iPhone pics I thought it’d be fun to share.

I borrowed this ring sling from my friend Anne and I. Am. Obsessed. It’s so comfy and easy to use. And despite what appears to be a scowl on Jack’s face I assure you, he’s a fan. And yes, I’m drinking a beer while babywearing. Moderation is the spice of life.

You may remember our good friends Cassie and Nic–they’ve got a bun in the oven and they just found out last week that it’s a girl! I am so so so excited!

Jack was pretty subdued throughout the whole event. He took a solid nap in the ring sling before the parade started so I’m not sure what his solemn demeanor was all about. Maybe he was just taking it all in.

Munching on beads, building up that immune system. And Aunt Cassie is practicing for motherhood!

My how time flies. This time last year Jack was still living the good life inside my belly (and making me miserable). And next year Cassie and Nic will have a little one about the same age as Jack is now. I’ll feel really old if I start thinking back to parades of St. Patty’s Days past, before kids and home ownership and even marriage. Our lives have changed in amazing and wonderful ways.

  1. He’s so cute :)
My husband and I were thinking about St. Patrick’s Day four years ago. We were dating and about to get engaged (although I didn’t know that) and partying it up in Chicago as much as we could without being able to drink. This year? Didn’t leave our apartment all day and watched The Lorax a couple times with our daughter. Weird how things change.

Hahaha yes, I’ve always been a homebody but it’s reached a whole new level now. Now I can blame the baby for my early-to-bed ways!

  2. I think that Jack was just taking it all in! We will have 2 little ones in the pictures next year!
