Here’s an easy upcycle to whip up on a Monday morning. I had these two identical strands of navy beads, purchased at separate estate sales for only a dollar or two each.
I love the idea of navy beads (navy is one of my best colors), but every time I put them on I just wasn’t feeling it. But then I saw this on Pinterest yesterday and it inspired me to try something new. I laid them out next to one another with the clasps at opposite ends.
Then I twisted them up together.
And tied a piece of ribbon to each end.
I trimmed the excess ribbon, tied it around my neck and voila-a chunky necklace that’s more in line with current trends.
I sometimes see super long strands of fake pearls at estate sales and wonder when I would ever wear them, but I love the idea of folding and tying them for a shorter, chunky necklace that’s a little more practical for life with a toddler.
