About

Welcome! I’m Charlotte Tryforos. My husband, Nicholas, and I both grew up in the suburbs of New Orleans, but we met at LSU in 2006 and never had the heart to leave Baton Rouge. In 2009 we tied the knot and the next year bought our first house-a 1920′s bungalow in a great little neighborhood a few miles from campus. I feel so grateful for this lovely old house and the opportunity to make it our home.

I launched this blog in March 2011, then started selling vintage wares on Etsy later that year. Decorating, blogging, and thrifting were the creative outlets that helped me cope with the emotional demands of my career as a social worker and they still serve me well now that I spend most of my time caring for our son, Jack. Nick and I welcomed our first child last summer and with his arrival I made the switch from social work to full-time motherhood, with a healthy dose of blogging, shop tending, and part-time work still mixed in to keep me sane and bring in some income.

We share our home with our dachshund, Juliet, and two cats, Sheila and Pistachio. It’s pretty much our life motto that you can have a full, rich life and a beautiful home without living beyond your means. We enjoy finding ways to save so that we can spend more time doing the things we love, like watching TV and eating out, haha. Clearly we are very classy folks.
